Cannot stress enough the quality of food and service here. Staff is always very attentive and kind. There are so many options and it’s very affordable. After 5 it gets busy and the food takes a few more minutes to make but very manageable. All together my favorite place to eat on island

Our server Cecilia went above and beyond to make our dining experience memorable. The food was absolutely delicious, every dish was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Loved the cozy, intimate setting of this place. This was more than just a meal.. it was an experience!

We visited Kan Sushi during our stay in Waikīkī, based on a recommendation from one of our Uber drivers—and it did not disappoint! We opted for the premium buffet because my niece was excited to try some of the specialty items. My cousin and I mostly ordered from the standard menu, which offered more than enough variety to keep us satisfied. We loved the concept of Kan Sushi’s made-to-order buffet, as it ensured everything was fresh and prepared just for us. The only downside was that the restaurant wasn’t as clean as I would have liked. If the cleanliness matched the quality of the food, it would easily be a 5-star experience across the board.

We went to Kan Sushi twice for lunch and tried the premium package — a little more expensive, but so worth it! The staff were friendly and attentive, always making sure we had what we needed. The food was fresh and delicious, the drinks were perfect, and the service was quick. We’ll definitely be back!

When someone recommends "all you can eat" anything, my mind immediately goes to long tables with chafing dishes and ice stations. This is NOT the case here - think of it more like prix fixe. Everything is made-to-order and delivered to your table. You can tell the hot dishes were not just sitting under a heat lamp. I was pleasantly surprised. Very good, and I do recommend it if you're hungry. Plus I thought the pricing was extremely reasonable for the quality of the food and the location.

The service was fantastic. Our server, Tyler, was very attentive and gave us a clear run down on how things operated as we began ordering. Sodas were bottomless and the sushi rolls were delicious. Highly recommend the MT. Fuji roll. It’s a premium roll, but the extra price is honestly worth it, especially for the carpaccio.

Kan Sushi – A Promising Spot That Needs Sharper Execution I visited Kan Sushi twice, and both times found myself reflecting on the same mix of promise and frustration. The atmosphere is lively and energetic, drawing a young, college-age crowd that gives the space a vibrant pulse. At around $40 per person, the price point isn’t unreasonable for what’s offered, but diners should come prepared for the occasional hiccup. The food itself is, in fact, quite good considering the cost—making Kan Sushi an appealing choice for groups of friends looking for a casual night out. That said, the experience is not without risk. What stands out most isn’t what’s on the plate, but what happens (or doesn’t happen) around it. Throughout both visits, I couldn’t help but notice the absence of a manager guiding the floor—someone to keep the team coordinated and address problems proactively. The staff do their best, and their effort shows, but their inexperience is evident. Responsibility ultimately lies with the ownership, who should seriously consider investing in staff training, increasing the number of servers, and, crucially, hiring a floor manager. Delays between courses were frequent; sometimes basic accompaniments like soy sauce, ginger, or wasabi were missing altogether and had to be requested more than once. Orders occasionally arrived incomplete—or worse, entirely different from what was requested—leaving diners with the uncomfortable sense of being in a cafeteria rather than a restaurant. It’s clear that the team wants to deliver a good experience, but they’re stretched too thin to succeed consistently. With better training, more hands on deck, and stronger oversight, Kan Sushi could easily live up to its potential. For now, diners should come with patience and an open mind: while the food is surprisingly good for the price, the service risks turning what could be a great evening into an exercise in frustration.
